Simple One
.mp3
Plain old brown dirt farmer scratching out a living by his own hands.
He's a working man, and he loves this land.
He don't get those stock market blues, he's got treasure that he can't lose
It's in God's hands and he understands

That the rain still falls on the just and the unjust like it's always done.
And he thanks the Lord for giving him this life that's a simple one.

Rich big city lawyer trying to make a million before he dies.
He tries and tries, but at night he cries.
He's got all that money can buy, but it can't buy him peace of mind.
He'll toss and turn, will he ever learn.

That the rain still falls on the just and the unjust like it's always done.
And he'll lie awake wishing that his life was a simple one.

We spend our time just gathering treasure to leave here when we die.
But the everlasting treasure, money can never buy.

I'm just a blue collar worker, trying to make a living's sure getting hard.
But I trust the Lord, I've got His Word.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and be content with what you've got.
It's a blessed man who will understand.

That the rain still falls on the just and the unjust like it's always done.
And I thank the Lord for giving me this life that's a simple one.
Yes the rain still falls on the just and the unjust like it's always done.
And I thank the Lord for giving me this life that's a simple one.
